I thought I'd give you a peek at what I've been working on for my tiny book --
First, I already had a book that was put together, so I carefully pulled the accordion out of the book - it left some bits, but that's fine, I'm going to glue it right back in the same place.
First, I already had a book that was put together, so I carefully pulled the accordion out of the book - it left some bits, but that's fine, I'm going to glue it right back in the same place.
And then I painted the accordion laid out flat. Keep in mind that when it's put back in the book, two pages will show at a time, so I thought about that as I painted my background. There will be 8 "spreads"
After the long strip dried, I thought it looked a little flat, so I spattered some white paint on it. Meanwhile, I did a little decorating on the cover. And I printed out a poem by Emily Dickinson that I love, because I'm going to use that as my text. I did a light wash over the type and let it dry before I cut it into strips.
Then I glued the strips onto my pairs of pages, and painted a little scene of a prairie and clover and bees! Now I'm just waiting for everything to dry before I put it all back together again!
And here's the finished book!
